My 8 year-old son, John, has done it! He has entered the pantheon of rock climbers. Sunday, 3-22-09 we played hookey from church and went climbing with my old climbing partner, Steve Pack. We top-roped a nice little sloping ramp/ledge/wall area about 80' high at Chickies Rock. John did GREAT! First pitch and he made it 70' up a 5.3 before sewing machine leg took him down. He has been grinning from ear-to-ear ever since. Now, I have to buy a harness for him - the swiss seat was less than pleasant, but it told him what he wanted to know.
