A Few Words: IN MEMORY OF LAO ZHAO ZIYUNG
A NOTE FROM THE SP STAFF
It is with much sadness to report our fellow SP member Lao Zhao Ziyung died on September 27, 2004 (details here). His comments here have been left to give members a glimpse into Lao's life and philosophy. We hardly got to know him, for he was with SP less than a year.
This profile page will remain on SP in Lao's memory.

I am old now, but I have not stopped my explorations. Still I am routefinder on several trips a year into Taklamakan desert, Altay, Tien Shan, Pamir, Kunlun, Karakoram and Himalaya mountains. I hope my health will allow me to go on doing so for the years to come. Working for the buro of geology and minerals, I have made several ascents of easier mountains in the 1950's to 70's. I hope to add one more on next years Zanzber Kangri expedition!
Photo: Me and a family member at the grave of the great Chinese desert explorer Yu Cong Shun, who died of exhaustion and dehydration in the Lop Nur desert. I am addicted to the wilderness, I love it, and get restless after only days in the city. But if it swallows your friends it is hard, I have lost so many.....
