Vanishing Act

Vanishing Act

Now you see the little critter tracks, now you don't!
A good-sized bird caught a treat on the eastern slopes of "Burning Bear Peak."
Note the critter tracks entering the frame in the upper-right corner of the image, and the bird-feather marks in the center of the image.

Re: Hello.

Roberto,

Yes, per the caption, a mid-sized bird-of-prey caught a small animal (rabbit, squirrel). It's difficult to see due to shadows, but the small animal's tracks suddenly end right where the bird's feathers appear. The bird clearly swooped down and captured a meal!

Cheers!

Awesome!

I've seen plenty of critter tracks in the winter, but nothing like a bird of prey getting dinner. Nice catch.

Re: Awesome!

Tom,

I have to credit one of my hiking partners for noticing this lovely site. They said: What IS this? And immediately I knew...BEAUTIFUL! (Well, not for the critter who became lunch, but...)
