Velebit from Lika

Continental side of South Velebit rises steeply above Lika region. In the south wind cloud is Babin Vrh (1744m), the one near Sveto Brdo (1751m). Photo taken on May 2nd 2004. It is interesting that lower part of Velebit slope is green while 90% of the trees on the plains of Lika are still naked (this photo is not example of that). It is because surface of the field has much lower night temperature than bit higher slope. Generally by May 20th forest turns green all the way till tree line. Photo: Aleksandar Gospic
