a different viewI used to view this mountain from the other side of the lake, when in the long ago time as a boy , I sat on my grandfather's porch in the deep twilight and watched the moon rise over this mountain. John McDonald sold his Little River farm to the Boy Scouts in 1961. Lake Merriweather covers the bottom land in front of the house. All evidence of a family that once lived there is gone. Sad, sometimes. But thanks for the great landscapes.

Re: a different viewI never knew this piece of history about the lake and great to hear from someone who actually remembers it from before.
And though it is sad to think of what is no longer there you would probably be pleased with the happiness and knowledge it brings to thousands of young men who walk its trails each year.
I see that you moved to Kentucky; maybe you'll get a chance to come back and see it again some day.
Happy New Year!
