This is me climbing the most difficult part of the route. As you see I still feel comfortable although I do not use the fixed rope which is only 1m to the right. I didn't use it 'cause I didn't feel save at all. The grip you get in this rock is much better as the grip at the rope, especially when it is wet and sometimes even frozen.

Voted 10/10 | This pic illustrates fine what you said it might be degree UIAA III. But usually if the route is protected by fixed ropes, as your other pictures are showing, they would not leave a detail like this unprotected. So I guess you went off the path and the route where it goes is less difficult. Hasn't voted | Vid, as you rightly guess, the Großer Ifinger is an easy walk up protected by fixed ropes, of course from bottom to top.
On this photo the guy:
a) has lost the right route
b) he is teasing the SP community.

Hasn't voted | You are right! This photo has been taken 1m away from the fixed rope but I don' t have another pic to show how steep it really is. Of course this part is LESS difficult using the rope but my opinion is that at this kind of steepness and especially in this kind of rock you really get better to the top by not using the rope due to the fact that you can slip away very easily. | | Posted Dec 6, 2005 9:47 am |

Voted 10/10 | Very beautiful photo! But my opinion is the same expressed by Vid. When I was young I have climbed this mount without problems and with city shoes. But two years ago I return there and my "age+experience" say the ordinary hiking route must suggest the easier route: here it maybe can be classified "EE" (="expert hikers" according with the Italian Alpin Club classifications).
