Günter Nothdurft 1954 during...
Günter Nothdurft 1954 during the first ascent of the famous Kaiserwegs at the Schaufelsen. Günter Nothurft and Franz Mayer died 1957 while descending the Eiger regular route after they had successfully climbed the Eiger N-face. This accident is known as the "Corti"-disaster in the history of the Eiger N-face (photo credit to Walter Seeger).
