Approach

Follow directions on the main page to the north approach. From the parking area, cross to the east side of the highway and hike north about 100 yards. On your right is a locked gate. Climb it (it is ok to go into this area as it is public land). The hill directly north is Billy's hill and is the first objective. Beware there are numerous game trails in this area.

Route Description

Once over the fence, make for Billy's hill by following the most obvious path to the north of Olgert Canyon. Then just switch back up the hill, aiming for the obvious highpoint.

Once you gain Billy's hill, the route takes you to the east along an old and not so clear fire break. While somewhat overgrown, the trails are still easy to follow. Be careful of ticks in this area. This is the beginning of the bushwack section. Follow the ridge until you reach the top of the Cortina Ridge.

Once gained, the spot looks like a four way intersection. The path directly south is the most direct route to the summit, but involves extreme bushwacking. Not recommended unless you like pain... The path west is somewhat less direct, but is MUCH easier to follow. About 3/4 to 1 mile along, the road turns left, follow it and in another 2 miles or so, the summit will be gained.

Essential Gear

-Water in all seasons.
-DEET to keep the stinking ticks off!! All season (especially spring)
