Route Description
From the intersection of County Roads 101 and 56, turn right and start walking up towards Mount Union on the road. This road is also known as Forest Road 52. It's a gentle grade all the way to the top. After about three miles, you will pass by Hassayampa Lake. Continue climbing on the
road through the forest. There aren't many views, but there will probably be a lot of cars if you are here on a weekend.
About two miles past Hassayampa Lake, you will reach the intersection with Forest Road 261 at 7,196'. Turn left, and start walking up the road straight towards Mount Union. After about a mile, you will reach a
signed intersection that says: "Mt. Union Lookout - 1 mile". Turn left, and start walking up this road known as Forest Road 261A. This road has a
locked gate across it, so you can't drive your vehicle to the top. Make the final push to the
summit, where you can enjoy the views.

Elevation Gain: About 1,700'.
