Approach

From the Devil's Lake Campground, take the Elk-Devil's lake trail. It will soon pass through a culvert under the highway. After about one mile, turn right onto the Wickiup Plains trail. Continue on this trail 2.2 miles to its end at a junction with the Pacific Crest Trail. Ignore side trails to Sisters Mirror Lake and Moraine Lake.

Route Description

From the PCT Junction, simply head for The Wife, which should be right ahead of you. Make your way through a band of trees to another barren plain. If you look to your right, you will see a GPS station, that is monitoring the rate that the bulge is growing. Please do not disturb it. Head for the forested south ridge of the mountain, and follow it to a false summit that is covered in cinders. Proceed east along the summit ridge to reach the true summit of The Wife.

Essential Gear

None needed for a summer ascent, Crampons may be neccessary if there is still significant snow.
