Approach

Trailhead i s Coburger hut (1947m / 6387ft).
There are several ways of getting there. Look at the main page for more information about reaching Coburger hut.

Route Description

From Coburger hut, follow trail 814 to Biberwierer Scharte (2000m / 6561ft), which is located in the west.
After passing the northern slopes of Vorderer Drachenkopf a unnamed trail (red markings) turns left (south) and leads up the Schwärzkar, which is located between Vorderer Drachenkopf and Wamperter Schrofen (2520m / 8267ft).
This trail leads over meadows and a scree-field to the trail head of the south ridge. An easy scramble leads up to the ridge. After you have reached it, turn left (north) again, and follow the red marking to the summit. The ridge itself is a easy scramble (UIAA II). Sometimes a bit exposed, but never really difficult.

Essential Gear

Because of the fact, that Vorderer Drachenkopf is climbed very often, a helmet may be useful, to avoid injury from falling stones.
In winter a rope can help you to get over the few passages, which could be really difficult if its snowy.
