Fred-going by what I've read about Glacier, should I assume there is lots of loose rock on this route between better bands of rock, or is the whole thing loose?

There is a lot of loose rock, not only on the bigger ledges between the more vertical bands, but also on all the little ledges in the more vertical bands. The quality of the rock varies considerably from one sedimentary layer to another. As you can see in the photo, there are many layers. Some are actually quite good rock while some are very loose and / or even brittle rock.
