North Face - West Cracks [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
North Face - West Cracks
Looking at the jump across move that marks the start of pitch 4 of North Face - West Cracks route. This is the summit of the lower "rabbit ear" and one needs to get across this gap to top out on the higher ear (Feb. 2007).

hard was the jump? Suitable for white people I guess. :-)

I would not know - my technique was to stem it....barely reaching a hint of a crimp with my left toe and a cupcake hold with my left arm......then throwing my body's center of mass across while desperately grabbing for something with my right hand.

Yeah, I was too chickenshit to do the jump. Thought I was going to bang my head on the overhang on the opposite side before falling onto the ledge 20 feet below in the chimney.

Shorter person's got no choice but to jump. Shirley "tarzaned" over on the fixed line....5.9 A0.
