Looking up from near the top of Valley of Boulders in Charon's Garden Wilderness, the youth selected this direction to begin their ascent to Apple and Pear. This is basically straight up Elk Mountain, followed by a traverse of about 1/4-mile to reach Apple and Pear (off the image to the right). Imaged by Curtis in June 2007.
