Ascending Sapovnelo Saddle
A characteristic butt shot of the action. The berg was easy to cross even late in season when we were there, but the slope is long and steep, making lead without the pack a must. And it gets a notch or two steeper in the couloir, to the reputed 80 degrees right under the ridgetop cornice.
