The Sleigh Runner on Box Elder Peak (Utah)

The Sleigh Runner on Box Elder Peak (Utah)

The white strip to the right of the people, leading to the peak of Box Elder, is the Sleigh Runner. Pioneers claimed if it still had snow in June then there would be plenty of water for the growing season. The Sleigh Runner is an awesome way to climb this mountain. Follow trail 44 from Granite Flat Campground to Wide Hollow. Follow Wide Hollow to the ridge, and then follow the Sleigh Runner to the peak. Picture taken June 21, 2008. I calculated a few slope angles for the Sleigh Runner, and found it to pretty much 40 degrees. Here is an article about the Sleigh Runner.

Nice angle

I stare at Sleigh Runner all summer long. It's cool to see it close up like that. I have yet to seee it that close in person (which will soon be remedied.)
