Grossglockner north face from... [ Sizes: Orig | Small | Thumb ]
Grossglockner north face from...
Grossglockner north face from Biwakschachtel. Theo-Rimml-Gedenkanstied climbs the steep serac in the lefternmost part of the photo. Schneiderrinne is the narrow couloir to the right serac. Pallavicinirinne is the broad almost face-like couloir and Berglerrinne is the broad couloir that runs to the right of the north face. Szalayrinne climbs the first half Berglerrinne, then continues directly to the summit along the couloir (not very prominent in the picture).

""As in any alpine region, the weather is changeable, protection questionable, route-finding bewildering, rockfall frequent and descents tedious. In short, it's everything you could ever ask for.""   --Canadian Alpine Journal, 1993
