Khyunglung Hot springs

Khyunglung Hot springs

Khyunglung Hot springs Khyunglung hot springs are located in the upper part of the Sutlej Canyon in Western Tibet. The water is incredibly crystalline and quite hot, but perfect for bathing in the colder lower basins. The site is occasionally visited by a few pilgrims, but remains completely wild and pristine. Just a wonderful place! (Western Tibet - 4 June 2007)

how big

are those basins? Can you soak your whole body?
And what God do you have to pray to when visiting that place?

Re: how big

The basins are about 2m long and 20cm deep. That was my first bath in several months (had some showers though...), but I won't post the picture here. :)

What god do you have to pray? You don't have to, but I would recommend that one for the Fanatics of the Snow Mountains (FSM).

More seriously, the ancient troglodyte city of Khyunglung, located just above the hot springs, used to be the capital of the Shangshung kingdom, from where the Bön (pre-Buddhist) religion spread across Tibet. Nowadays the site also count with ruins of Buddhist chapels, and it is quite close to holy Mount Kailash revered by Hindus, Jains, Buddhists and Böns. Personally I stick to the FSM…

Re: how big

Thanks for a very explanatory answer. I heard of "that one" church, although disagree with the slight changes of Michelangelo's main Sistine chapel scene.
Looks like you live in a great part of the world.
