Taken on Charlies Bunion two days after my sixteenth birthday (in 1973!). I'm the kid with the hiking staff, sitting with my pal Kent, taking in the view. This was part of a two week backpacking trip split between the Smokies and north Georgia. The experience that forevermore hooked me on hiking, backpacking, and the outdoors.
