Overview of Velika Paklenica...

Overview of Velika Paklenica, which shows whole lower valley with canyon and smaller part of upper valley. They are almost perpendicular on one another. Lower cuts through the massif of Velebit (its first step), while upper valley is parallel with main crest and direction of the mountain. On the left side where lower valley turns into canyon stands Anica Kuk (712m), showing its 400m high NW face. At the point where both valleys touch Paklenica hut (480m) is placed. View is from the pass (1620m) of Lipa Staza route which ascends from Paklenica hut towards Vaganski Vrh (1757m), highest peak of Velebit. Pass is placed between the peaks in the seaboard streak of highest peaks group above Paklenica while Vaganski Vrh is in the continental streak. May 9th 2004. At this time of year one can observe 'three seasons' on the mountain. In the valley is young spring, in the middle leafless autumn while among highest peaks is still snowy winter. In the background is Velebit channel.
