Pauliberg / Pál-hegy

The 761 meter high Pauliberg / Pál-hegy. It's a volcanic hill made of basalt, and 2 millions year ago it was still active. One of the very few volcanic hills of Austria. Actually it belongs to Austria only from 1920. In the previous 1100 years it belonged to Hungary. During 900 years it was the county highpoint of Sopron County. Since 1920 it is the second highest peak of Burgenland province of Austria
