Re: AndesiteI am not sure where Martin came up with andesite as the rock type for this peak.
The geology of the area is very complicated and the rocks consist of a mixture of metavolcanics and metasediments.
Andesite is certainly a volcanic rock and much of the rock in the area could be metamorphosed andesite.
Lopez states: "The range was formed by block faulting of the region's very complicated rock layers, which contain a little of everything, from oceanic sedimentary rocks to intrusive igneous rock and limestone, all within a short walking distance of each other."
HERE is a geologic map of the county with a short description of the geology.
