The Odessa Gorge Hike

The Hike through Odessa Gorge from Bear Lake to the Fern Lake Trailhead or vice versa is one of the most beautiful hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park. The scenery is gorgeous and you can catch the shuttle at either end to take you back to your car. You will have striking views of Flattop Mountain, Notchtop Mountain, Little Matterhorn, Odessa Lake, Fern Lake, Marguritte Falls,The Pool and the Arch Rocks. You will have to cross a few snowbanks on the trail down the gorge throughout most of the summer but by mid-summer a well worn path will be established. This is a work in ptogress . I will continue to build it. Please add your own photos.

Nice album!!

Beautiful area. Funny thing is I haven't been back since 1975. Your album makes me want to visit there again!

Re: Nice album!!

Thanks It is a great hike. The album is in its early developmental stages. I didn't see an album for this awesome hike so I thought there should be one.

Re: This hike...

Thanks. I consider it one of the very best hikes in the Park. We did it the easy way starting at Bear and finishing at the Fern Lake Trailhead. In the future I would like to reverse directions. The shuttle service allows you to go farther than you otherwise might. There will be steep snow banks on the trail into at lest mid-July. The Ranger at Bear Lake told us it would have been quite treacherous two weeks earlier which would have been around July 1st.
