I remember Mark mentioning that he's done that route - have you done it as well? If not, I think you'd like that 1st pitch.....think having smaller hands and fingers than mine makes the pitch more enjoyable (Shirley liked it a lot more than me :)

Re: Nice series of photosI don't think I have done Peking, but it does look fun. We had a nice weekend, although Mark is fighting a cold. But, we got our kayaks out and went for a nice paddle yesterday, so that was nice. Other than that, low key.

I did Peking a long time ago - the first pitch I half led, then toproped the rest, due to the fact that a friend managed to walk its way deep into that crack - took 15 minutes of hanging on a top rope to extricate it. Craziest thing, I hit the cam with my knee as I climbed past it, and send it deep into the crack - what a pain.

Thank you very much. That lead of mine of P1 was a sight NOT to see......wasn't pretty!!
I would not necessarily recommend the upper pitch - it's not bad, it's just not that memorable (I thought P2 of Moscow was a lot better and same difficulty...don't think P2 of Peking is 5.8).
We too had some freaky things happen with cams - spent 3 hours on this one route in Staender's Ridge (Lost Fox) last spring trying to remove a 2inch cam that just walked into the craziest constriction....finally gave up (fortunately it was one of those cheaper ones, $30 and not $60!!).
BTW, nice job on that Green Giant Buttress climb & SP page....wish we had more summer left to go there seems to be an awsome place!

....wasn't pretty :) As .8's in the main area of the park go, thought this 15 foot section was a bit stiff (Moonshine D. was easier IMHO). All pro is "C1" though!!

Re: Nice lead!Yeah, nice job on your leads. So how did you like Moonshine Dihedral? Yeah, I would have to agree that Peking is probably as hard as Classic Crack or Dogleg Crack in Leavenworth (5.8+). Definately a nice pitch of rock. You should try the sport climb "Let's Face It - 5.10B" just left of Peking the next time your out there. It is a really good climb.

Moonshine was OK but I have yet to do that first 25 foot section w/o resting on gear :(
I saw that sport route to the left....looks pretty thin and it looked as though (I thought) you might hit the deck should you fall right before the 2nd bolt. Leading that is a nice piece of climbing on your part!
