I decided I needed a photo of myself in the Hero Photos! section of my page. Don't worry, the stuffed snow leopard has me securely on belay.

Voted 10/10 | Great term, hero photos, and a great photo as well. I love the snow leopard! Which peaks are those in the background? | | Posted Nov 19, 2004 1:31 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks Charles. Mathias gets the credit for coming up with the "Hero Photo" concept. The snow leopard is named Sonam and he travelled with my wife when she spent a month doing medical work in Nepal. He's been above 20,000' a couple of times now.
The peaks behind me are Makalu and Chamlang. You can see more of the view here. See you around. | | Posted Nov 19, 2004 4:12 pm |

Hasn't voted | When I first saw Nelson on SP, it was this picture and it was on his profile page. And I thought, "WOW! Now there's an experienced mountaineer!" And then I had the pleasure of meeting him in person. Just a normal guy that loves the mountains. But he's a great guy, too, and his charming wife is a real sweetie. I look forward to seeing them again! | | Posted Nov 19, 2004 5:42 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks for the kind words Aaron! Jude and I are looking forward to your slide show. It will be great to get together again, and to meet a bunch of new SP'ers.
> WOW! Now there's an experienced mountaineer
That's the thing about photographs. They often lie. Compared to most folks here on SP my mountaineering resume is pretty slim. | | Posted Nov 19, 2004 6:37 pm |
