How many of such pictures are you still hiding! What a great light, razor sharp Vernar, clouds...!!!

Thanks Vid!! I was waiting for Tosc page, but I still have some more :-) Yes, pics I posted from 1.3mp originals look much sharper than those that came from 5 or 8mp originals! It is paradox that less quality shots look better but seams with smaller number of pixels less is lost when resizing.

I have also noticed that! Very strange. I am sharpening 5M pictures after resizing, but still, the effect is, as you described it.

Sasha, your comment sounds very interesting.

And what's about the original size used? I mean , if one knows he has to resize the image, using a 4M pixels camera (it's my case, at present) it's better to shot at the max resolution 2272x1704 pixels or at a lower one? Apart from subsequent resizing, in my case it seems I have a quality decrease above 1600x1200 pixels.

I was forgetting: yours is a wonderful picture , of course!

Cheers.

Thanks Livio!! This one was resized from 1.3megapixel image or 1280x960 pixels resolution. But there is no question, always shot maximum resolution you have because you never know what you might need image for. It seams it is true that smaller images look sharper when resized but no one can say that images resized from 4-8mp shots look bad :-) If you would take only 2mp (1600x1200) images that would only be good for SP. What if you would want to print it on A4 or someone asks you one day would you like to give one of your beautiful Dolomites images for a postcard or book? Then you would really miss those extra 2mp! And I don't see anything lacking in your shots, they look great!

Cheers

Thanks Rok!! You should try definitly, start with less 'dangerous' places! Winter in mountains is amazing!
