Shirley on the final (P1) rap...

Shirley on the final (P1) rap down Kor-Ingalls. Pitch 1 of route goes up the shady dihedral at bottom of photo and then up via a squeeze slot to the left of the "boulder" where Shirley is. Note that a single 60m rope would not reach the ground directly from the bolts atop P1 but colbyjw added the following useful piece of info: I've been told that a single 60 meter rope will work (Use your own judgement). You just have to make it to the small ledge about 30 feet below the climber and 15 feet below the bottom of the squeeze chimney. This is where we started the route. That ledge loops around Castleton just under the North Face. Easy descent from there. Thanks! Photo was taken on the afternoon of December 25, 2004.

Re: NICE

:) Thank you Aaron!

Oh yeah definitely!! Once I get myself unemployed, we'll be looking to move. SLC is at the top of our wishlist of places to move to.......there's no more central location in the lower 48 IMHO.........ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ and of course COLORADO are all within weekend driving distance. The latter locations are great dry weather options for winter. And Utah itself...what can I say. What a GREAT state!! Salt Lake itself is in a great location with countless cragging areas 15 minutes from downtown.

daydreamin' over here :)

Great Shot, Great Weather

It looks like you guys had beautiful weather. I've been told that a single 60 meter rope will work (Use your own judgement). You just have to make it to the small ledge about 30 feet below the climber and 15 feet below the bottom of the squeeze chimney. This is where we started the route. That ledge loops around Castleton just under the North Face. Easy descent from there.

Re: Great Shot, Great Weather

Thanks for the good comments Colby. Been "drooling" over this route since you added in the Castleton page a year ago or so?

I'll add in your information regarding the rappel to the caption. I guess I should've qualified my double rope rap comment by saying that a single 60 won't reach in one shot from bolts atop P1 to the ground (the mid rope marker was about 20-30 feet shy of the ground).
