What do you do to the second highest peak in Virginia? Hm. I know! Slap cell phone towers and microwave receivers and chain link up there and gouge a power line right of way all the way up the slope to the top! Yeah! That's what you do!

Voted 10/10 | I drove up Whitetop July 4th weekend 2006 and was disappointed with this view also. I'm planning on going back (hopefully in September) and hike it. | | Posted Aug 7, 2006 3:28 am |
| BobSmith | Thanks. | |
Hasn't voted | It's still a nice peak. Just turn your back on the offending artificial towers and look the other way.

| truth | NOT cell phone towers | | Hasn't voted | These are FAA towers. They are part of the east coast air traffic control. They were there long before cell phones were even thought of. The chain link fence is of course a security measure to keep casual vandals from climbing the towers and ruining things. This outpost is so unobtrusive, it's not even much of an issue. | | Posted Jun 20, 2007 2:41 pm |
