But it is also the valley of other great mountains starting from Breithorns and the Dent d'Herens. This last
(4175m), which is also to do with Switzerland, is the source of the great Western divide that, by the
Grandes and Petites Murailles, separates from the adjacent Valpelline to reach, after
Château des Dames e Dôme de Cian (3488m, 3351m), the modest and forgotten seeds
Mont Redessau (3253m), where from its Summit Southeast
(3237m) starts the long partition with the Valley of St. Barthélemy ending up
Becca Aver (2469m), above the Common of Torgnon. One less important appendage of the Basin of St. Denis / Verrayes falls above that of Châtillon on the border with the Central Valley of Baltea. On the opposite or Eastern descends from
Western Breithorn (4165m), or better would be more accurate to say the
Gobba di Rollin (3899.6m), the partition with the Ayas Valley, which reached to Southwest the
Grande Sommettaz (3165,7m), he goes far to the South arriving on the
Mont Roisetta, Grand Tournalin (3334m, 3379m), elegant hilltop above the Common of Valtournenche, but can not compete with the opposite side. Between the Municipalities of Chamois La Magdeleine in the West and the famous resorts of St.-Jacques, Champoluc and Antagnod in the other side, the watershed provides even more modest elevations from
Becchi Trecare, Nana, Grande Dent (3031m, 3003m, 2832m) towards the
Mont Zerbion (2719/20m), after discarding the
"offended" Mont Tantané (2734m), which remains sullenly apart over Chamois La Magdeleine. But it puts in agreement all the Torrent Marmore from Lac de Goillet reaches the Baltea at the location
"Chameran" of Châtillon.
Starting from Zerbion finally above Valtournanche & Breuil-Cervinia the Grandes Murailles & Mont Roisetta
Becchi Trecare, Nana e Grande Dent (3031 m, 3003 m, 2832 m) sino allo
Zerbion (2719/20 m), dopo aver scartato l'
Even a journey to the "Christianity" ...
But it is also a journey to the "Christianity". Of course, as these places have grown the cult of Christianity, as evidenced shrines, oratories, convents, monasteries, churches and votive chapels, a little scattered throughout the territory. A trip to the interior of another journey, that surely comes after the Age of the Mountains but that precedes that of the Castles, Palaces and Noble, going nell'etensione of human time at the time of the local Salassians People and Romans dating respectively 1158 BC to
"Cordelia", very ancient Capital of Leader
"Cordelus" for the first and always with the 25/23 BC with the foundation of
"Augusta Praetoria Salassorum", current City of Aosta. Immediately below, ie around the III°/IV° Century came the phenomenon of the Evangelization on the entire and complete Aosta Valley. A phenomenon gradually spread, first to the Valley of Baltea, then to all the valleys reaching even the smallest of villages, up to the last pasture.
A hyphen key, a "trait d'union" to tie the ancient peoples to the modern.
Septumian tiny Chapel just above Torgnon Common
Augusta Praetoria Salassorum, attuale Città d'Aosta.
