Viper's Bugloss (
Echium vulgare)sometimes called
blue devil and blueweed, is common biennial weed of Gorski Kotar. Local name is Lisicina (written with caron atop
c and spelled
Leeseecheenah).
Height may vary, one seen on the photo above was round 80cm (0.8m) high.
All Viper's Bugloss leaves have sort of white speckles
that give the leaves a dimpled appearance,
main aesthetic feature, hovewer, are hairy flowers,
right blue to purple in color,
making it distinctive among all the other weeds.
Allways friendly sight for flora photographers,
VB flowers June-September.
