| I have climbed Volakias together with gigilos late September i think in half day round trip starting and ending in Xiloskalo.I was pretty fast and it took me 6 hours vica-versa.As i went,i ascented at the top of Gigilos,then descented at the deep saddle between Gigilos and Volakias(at least 300m vertical loss i estimate..)and ascented directly through scree slopes the highest peak of Volakias.At the return after Gigilos-Volakias saddle i traversed Gigilos from its southwestern slopes without defined path,between dolines..-it's the second route you describe.i returned ksiloskalo at early dusk,after a beautiful route,i still remember the incredible views from Volakias!! |
