Andy_HornungFelt Great  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 21, 1997

Think the date is right. Completed it at the third attempt, previous trys being thwarted by too much sun (really!) On top of Snowdon in time to watch the sun rise from the summit, then a quick jog over Crib y Ddysgyl and Crib Goch just in time to beat the hoardes coming up from Pen-Y-Pass who thought they'd started out early! The slog up Elidir Fawr is a bit of a morale sapper, but after that it was plain sailing. Had to laugh on the way up Pen Yr Ole Wen as we watched an inappropriately dressed woman (open toes and heels with combat trousers???) descending the path on her backside - I suspect her husband has never been allowed to forget that day out. Finishing over Garnedd Uchaf and Foel Fras in the evening sunlight on a beautiful, calm evening, with nobody else in sight and no sound but the birds was the perfect end to a fantastic day in the hills.

rivenAll in one day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Apr 14, 2007

19 hours including the ascent of Snowdon and descent (in the dark down a pretty dangerous slope). We had really, really hot weather. This was a problem for quite a few in the group, in their effort to save weight they didn't carry enough water!

Fantastic day out though. I would quite like to go back and do in sub-12 hours. I think with a small bag, trail shoes and a 2 man group it would be do-able.

mountainmanmarkI couldn't walk for a week after this one!  Sucess!

If you want a whistle stop tour of Snowdonia then this is the way to do it, but don't underestimate the effort required. In the three years I was at Bangor university, out every weekend on the hills I only attempted and completed this once. If you are going to give it a go heres a few suggestions. Wait for good weather, dry, cloud cover above the summits and not too much sun or wind. Make sure you know the route beforehand simply for speed, for the three weeks prior we had walked the three sections, Carneddau, Tryfan and the Glyderau, and Snowdon etc. On the day we traveled light carrying only our water, rations, and a light shell. Between us we had a first-aid kit and short wave radio (no mobile phones then!). In the valleys we were met by a minibus where we topped up our water and rations etc. Thoroughly recommend it, but be prepared.

Did 11 of the peaks split over a few days with climbing in between. I chose a great weekend to do them, with excellent weather.
