Helpful Map

When I did this I followed the road into Elk Park the went due north and I probably followed your red line to the summit. On the way back I went SW down the burned slope into Elk Park. Your way is much better since you don't have nearly as much elevation to regain (and it's more direct).

Thanks for the note, Dave. The first time I was in this area we came upon a dead, partially-eaten calf that a mountain lion had stashed. The dogs were nervous, to say the least!
