Hi kaner,

interesting, your page. But I miss the following very important things:

  • an overview over all routes and trail. Or does there exist only one?
  • adresses, phone numbers and internet links to infos concerning the area, accomodation/lodging/camping and weather conditions
  • books and links to book-stores
  • a more extensive description of the way how to get there ...well, I am from Europe, and I have no idea how to get there ....

  • Regards, Rahel

Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully "getting there" will make better sense as well as "lodging".

Lots of good information here...good page, and can be expanded upon with books and routes (if there is more than the standard one?). Wish I had pictures to add but alas, we climbed this before the days of my digital camera.

Thank you kindly! It is good to know that someone who visits this mountain as much as you do thinks the page is pretty good.

Worked in it's shadow near Walsenburg, but lack of a vehicle at the time kept me from climbing it.

Good one. I used this page as my exclusive source of info on the peak.

I climbed this one a couple of weeks back, and I used this page as a great source of information about it. We even tried out the Dog Bar! ;-) Great page, but I would really love to see one for the East Spanish Peak as well.

Climbed with Amanda (ashumack), this page was our soul resource for climbing the mountain. That says it all.

    2017 Update

When I climbed West Spanish Peak in 2011, there was a fairly decent, easy-to-follow use trail . No more. An earthquake the next year apparently obliterated much of that trail. Traces of the track can still be discerned -- especially on the descent -- but the peak is a harder climb than before. That said, it is still worth doing for spectacular views of the surrounding ranges and volcanic dikes that radiate from the base. One other update; the day parking fee is now six bucks.

    Re: 2017 Update

Thanks for the fee update. I'll fix the main page. I'm a bit skeptical about an earthquake destroying the trail tho.
