White tailed kite

Came apon this small bird of prey about the size of a crow sitting unusually close, about 20 feet away on top of Bald Hill in the northern California hills. It didn't appear to pay me any attention. From the look of the eyes possibly focused on something moving in the grass. January 12 '13
