Whittier Vegetation

Whittier Vegetation

The old rotting tree trunks on the ground here are part of the massive section of trees that were killed by the lateral blast from Saint Helen's eruption. Areas closer to the volcano still feature match-sticked trees strewn about barren ground but as you get further from the peak the vegetation is slowly growing back and the visual evidence of the eruption is slowly receding.
