Wild Sky Hiker Trail Proposals

Wild Sky Hiker Trail Proposals

On June 23, 2011, a public meeting was initiated by the U.S. Forest Service to discuss future trail proposals within Wild Sky Wilderness. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Forest Service representatives asked the hikers and equestrians in attendance to go to several large maps and put their 1st Choice (GREEN DOT) for a trail, 2nd Choice (YELLOW DOT) for a trail, and Rejected Trail Choice (RED DOT). The map shown here was the primary map being marked by the people in attendance who wanted trails for hiking use. Their 1st & 2nd Choices were scattered all across the wilderness area, as well as their Rejected Choices. The people seeking equestrian trails had their act together much moreso than the people primarily seeking hiking trails, as the map that was marked by equestrians (not shown here) focused on prioritizing trails for only two areas: Frog Mountain and Iron Mountain. The hikers were not as focused as the equestrians for trail priorities. ------------ SIDE-NOTE: My apologies for the poor lighting/bad photo color. My camera died a few days later, and this marked one of the early signs of that occurring.
