Wildcat Peak (NV) Trap

Wildcat Peak (NV) Trap

Not far from where the road ends, there is a rough game trail that acts also as a use trail for going up the drainage valley. This trap (see arrow) was found by a visitor in November who also found several more of these along the route that Ken and I had used. This might make you a bit more concerned about where you or your dog are putting your feet as you head up (or back down) on this mountain.

Is that even legal?

To put traps like that on public BLM land?

Re: Is that even legal?

Recently it was allowed in Utah for the purpose of getting coyotes but as repugnant as it is to me, it may be legal. So watch your step out there.

I found this information on trapping in Nevada: http://www.ndow.org/Hunt/Seasons_and_Regulations/Furbearer/Trapping_in_NV/

Re: Is that even legal?

Not only is it legal, but in Utah at least, the state pays you $50 for each coyote that you kill.

Re: Is that even legal?

It's probably legal. I would have dismantled the traps. Killing animals that way is cowardly and cruel.
