Wind River

The Wind River opens up into the Salmon River Canyon through this spectacular crack in the canyon wall. Trail 312 crosses a pack bridge over the Salmon River and passes through this hole to enter the southwest corner of the wilderness. Though this entrance is far from the high peaks of the wilderness, its a good place to share rocks with bighorn sheep and watch steelhead spawn in the river. April 2000
