I agree with a lot of what you had to say.

"It was “out” there with no one around. Winter has a crazy thing of making things a lot more serious feeling."

It is a lot more serious when you KNOW there will be no one else within miles of you. Screwing up would be SEVERE.

"I’m not going to say we were the second, or fifth, or ninth, because that’s not the point. I will say we overcame Lizard Head and made a huge personal victory."

Also a great point. If a climb seems very challenging in winter and it was done before, it does not mean your experience will not be authentic. Especially when you have not done it at all before, and do not have much winter beta.

I read this right after the 10 page "chief" thread. How appropriate that people are posting climbs and right in my back yard(at least in colorado). Congrats on a good climb! Too bad you had to learn to ski the hard way...nice pix, by the way.
