Woodsia and Cystopteris Comparison

These common small ferns can often be confusing to distinguish. The woodsia on the left is generally hairy and the segments more linear, while the Cystopteris (bladder fern) on the right is not hairy and the segments rounded or more irregular. Photo from Kamiak Butte, Washington.
