Wrong Way to Crab Eyes

Wrong Way to Crab Eyes

This is not the best way to Crab Eyes, seen in the distance. When the image was shot, we did not realize that we'd gotten off the most direct route to this interesting rock formation in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, OK. However, we had to bushwhack about 1/4-mile back to the north through dense brush and rocky terrain to return to the Class 1 trail that leads near the base of it. If you arrive at this view, retrace your path several hundred yards looking for a split in the trail which leads to the left (as you retrace your steps) or right (from the direction you originally hiked in). Imaged in Oct 08 during Boy Scout Troop 275's school fall break campout.
