Much improved trail  Sucess!

Only .6 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway TH. The MTS people have blazed the path and improved it considerably so it's even suitable for the kiddies (much like Waterrock Knob). The fields of cane on top do limit the views considerably though.

Did the whole ridge traverse  Sucess!

Got all the sixers on the Plott Balsam ridge in one day hike. Yellow face being the last of the day. Brambles on top, nothing special.

Ron T. Was Right  Sucess!

Blessed is the person who cleared the trail from the BRP. It's about 1 mile to the summit from the BRP. Without the clearly cut trail, it could be more than 2 hours of misery!

Route Climbed: unnamed trail from Blue Ridge Parkway Date Climbed: May 20, 2005  Sucess!

Jennifer & I began this hike in the late afternoon after a quick jaunt up Waterrock Knob. The trail was surprisingly good and we had the whole thing to ourselves. If you are seeking solitude on the BRP this is this place to go. There are some nice views along the way and in late may there are severl varieties of wildflowers on display.
