Zabriskie Point

Zabriskie Point

Zabriskie Point in Death Valley National Park. These geological features were formed from sediments of ancient Furnace Creek Lake and volcanic rocks from the nearby, then-active Black Mountain volcanic field. Photo taken during a trip in 2001.

That dark-topped formation in the middle...

...crumbles under your feet. I felt really guilty as I traversed it on my way to that high peak in the background, the one I've nicknamed "Badlands Peak." Great journey out there, though, if you like solitude and badlands scenery.

Thanks for the interesting comment. I personally enjoy that area a lot, whether it's hiking or just for the scenery.
