Rattle McSnaz of AZ

"You don't pull on Superman's cape, You don't spit into the wind. You don't pull the mask off of old Lone Ranger, And you don't mess around with ..." the "Rattle McSnaz of AZ." Western Diamond-back Rattlesnake or Coontail crossing a road near a bend in AZ's Verde River. It's not uncommon to see this species of venomous snake reaching a length of 6 feet (72 inches) in this part of Arizona. This snake was probably returning from a favorite watering hole. ZOOM in, and you can see how the patterns resemble a racoon's tail at the lower end of its body next to its rattle, thus giving it the name Coontail. The air temperature was approximately 90 degrees when I took this photo. The snake was slithering in the direction of a Mesquite tree, seeking shade and protection from an obnoxious photographer. 90 Farheneit...

should be 31/32 Celsius degrees... not so hot Larry... In southern Italy it's normal to have a temperature that is 38/40 Celsius (100 Farheneit more or less) during July and August, but surely nobody there have ever seen a 2 meters long poisonous snake!

Re: 90 Farheneit...

Complete agreement! It was a partly
cloudy day, when I snapped the photo of this
"surprised serpent!"

I know about southern Italy. In my seafaring
days, I was there six times in the 1970s.

It is such an incredible place, and all the
tour guides were friendly. I really want to
return to Italy someday, if at all possible!

Mushroom list!

These mushrooms are the only one's my family eats in North America. Some mushrooms that are great in Poland- are deadly here. I will post the mushrooms in an "other" section that i will make.
Feel free to ask questions.

Re: Mushroom list!

Completely understood!

Please go ahead with your list, and I will
be sure to ask if I have a future question.

And ... sorry for the misunderstanding.
