Re: great picI was in the city of Colima and just north of Manzanillo in a place called Barra de Navidad. I had dragged my girlfriend up Malinche and Tlaloc already and was hoping for an opportunity on Colima but the clouds rolled in and the skies opened up and Colima escaped me.

Re: great picToo bad you missed out. One of the highlights of an ascent of this peak is the proximity to Volcan de Colima, a very active volcano on the west flank of Nevado de Colima. Both times I've been there, the volcano has been spewing and smoking, and the view of the volcano from Nevado de Colima is excellent, as well as the views of the surrounding countryside as this is a standalone peak (except for the volcano).
