Here's the start of the hike 2200 feet down to Colchuck Lake. The
official trail ends here, but the track down is well-used. Start down
near the right side of the gap, and keep your eyes open. Most of it
is steep, on bare rocks and dirt, so there are bound to be alternate
routes. Sometimes I've thought I was on the main trail, then spotted
a better one 100 feet away.
