A camp with a view. In the background the south face of Vallecitos. Good shelter for the tents here and water nearby in the small creeks, fed by the glaciers at the foot of the face.

Ahhhh - I understand now...

I remembered you had said the water at La Hollada was the best to be had anywhere - and we found it undrinkable this year. Your photo shows yellow sulphur containing rocks all alongside the steam - most of which was hidden under snow when we were there. But I think the snow was melting and leaching sulphur (and other stuff)into the stream... and the taste was foul!

Re: Ahhhh - I understand now...

The water from some of the streams were smelling of sulphur, but we used the water from the melt off from the penitentes fields/ice. It was fresh and nice.

Much better than the highly suspect stream in Salto camp where I saw people washing their armpits, washing dishes etc. During calm nights the sound of people peeing a bit here and there could be heard. Also you may have paid attention to "mummified" (and fresher) piles of "brown stuff" very close to that stream. Yuk!
