A dominating view of the Lodner

I'm having a look back as I hike into the Lafaistal, a relatively short but wide side valley of the Zieltal. Right behind the small grassy bump lies the Lodner Hütte where I started today, and that's where the Lafaisbach joins the Zielbach. The massive Lodner (3228m) dominates the view. It's been on my mind for years. I finally climbed it yesterday and I'm looking back with happy memories. Mind you, the route I followed isn't visiible from here. The most obvious way up from here, the long ENE ridge, coming from the left, has grade UIAA III according to my guidebook. I'm traveling alone right now, and don't like to solo something like that. On the left, and slightly higher than Lodner actually, is Hohe Weiße (3278m). There is a very steep hiking route to its summit, coming from the other side. Years ago, from its summit, I got my first good view of the Lodner, and that's how I got hooked. On the far right are the Lazinser Rötelspitze (3037m) and Tschigat (2998m), both of which can easily be climbed from the Halsljoch saddle between the two. 16 July 2013.
