Aconcagua on December 12, 2003. After a very stormy week. High winds, cold and driving snow drove everyone down to Plaza Argentina on the 10th. The weather seemed to get better but the high winds returned on the 13th. The winter had been very dry but the weather system reported to have originated from Easter Island, seemed intent in making up for it while we were there. Heading home we bivied at the end of the Riolenchos across the Vacas river, near Casa Piedra. We awoke to this splendid scene. My fingers were numb but the camera remained unfrozen unlike my shoes and socks which were soaked from fording the river by headlamp the night before. William Marler, Nikon Cool Pic 5000
